Question: I am a single senior male, and I am Canadian. Are Canadians viewed the same way as US citizens in Iran?
I prefer to travel by myself, and would like to spend 3 weeks visiting the historic parts of Iran.
Is it safe to do that on my own?
Answer: Iranians are very hospitable and welcoming. Do not believe the media hype, as you will be treated great regardless of being from Canada or the US. Americans and Canadians are both treated very well in Iran.
Generally speaking backpacking in Iran is not difficult, even if you won't always find an English speaker. You will meet plenty of people willing to help you.
