Question: I'm going to travel to India by overland route, starting end of June. Although I don't plan entering Iran before 1 September I already had to apply for an Iranian visa.
At the beginning of September I will be in Tabriz. So do you think it will be possible to get a 30 days extension in Tabriz a few days after my arrival?

Visa extension will be done in the Alien Offices of all the major cities such as Shiraz, Esfahan, Tehran, and Yazd. You should provide them with two passport-size photos, about $20 and of course your passport.
