Question: I'm at the very early stages of planning, but don't worry i wont ask for you to make me an ittinerary!
I am part Iranian and would like to visit but i speak little to no farsi. While i have a lot of family in Tehran and Esfahan, i don't want to always rely on them to take me places. I DO want to do the touristy thing, as the "authentic" i live with every day. I wont likely be on my own much (you know how family is) but just in case i want to be informed.
So how hard is it to get around alone as a girl in her 20s? How is public transport and are there things i should watch out for (scams, fake taxis etc...)? I asked my family but i think their view is a bit too rosy =)
Answer: Yellow taxis, public buses and metros can be used to commute fast and cheap and of course safe.
Plenty of solo travelers both men and women enter Iran each day and travel in the country hassle-free.
