Question: Hi all,

I have Swedish passport, my wife australian passport. We have applied for a tourist visa, through the MFA website. It has been a week now (since 16 feb. 2010), still no confirmation email. Although we got a request ID but not more than that. Our plan is to visit Iran around 20 of April 2010.

Does anyone know if MFA does reply at all? How long does it take to receive the pre-approval code? HOW does the email from MFA look like?? Any help??

We have chosen the IKIA Airport in Tehran as our pick up place for the visa.

I appreciate if anyone can help us shed some light on this issue. Thanks in advance!

Answer: It is quite common and usually the www.evisa.ir doesn’t answer the requests.

There is always a possibility that a person don’t be allowed enter a country whether has a visa or looking for a VOA in the international airports. It can be USA, Britain, Turkey or Iran. Sometimes it becomes very personal and a specific staff working at the airline desk avoids boarding while other one helps to board that flight.
On the other hand, the airlines are not ignorant. They can read the visa requirements just fine. It's that they're playing it safe after customers are deported by Iranian immigration for no apparent reason.

So, it is better not to wait more to get the response from that website and apply for your visa through another way:

1. Travel to Iran and get a 15-day visa at the airport.
2. Contact a Travel Agency in Iran and ask for visa application.
3. Refer to Iran embassy and ask for visa. This way takes longer time.
