Question: Hi
I'm just back from the embassy, looks like iranian MFA has changed the rules regarding obtaining visa today.
From now on it's "just" 50€ but you have to pay in advance and it's non-returnable if you're not granted.
The embassy workers learnt about it today morning and there is no information about this anywhere.
I also heard there were quite many rejections recently and as MFA doesn't explain why they can only guess it had something to do with the election anniversary.
Seems like at least additional 1 out of 6 won't get their visa to cover these costs...
Answer: Iran tourist visa issuance is easily done in the below three ways and no new rule is introduced to it:
1. Fly to Iran and at the airport get a 14 days on arrival visa. The visa on arrival is for 98 nationalities excluding USA, England, Canada, Colombia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Bangladesh, and Somalia. If your nationality is among the countries authorized to get a 14-day on arrival visa, you can easily collect you visa against offering your passport, a passport-size photo and about $50 to the staff at the airport. There is no need to fill in the form on the evisa website because usually this website doesn’t answer the requests.
2. Refer to the Iranian embassy in your country and ask for a visa to be issued for you. Usually this way takes longer time about 30 days.
3. Contact an Iran based agency to apply for your visa, it takes about 10 working days to get your reference number from the MFA and two working days to collect your visa at the embassy by direct referral or one working week by posting the docs to the embassy. The agencies rate for applying visa is $ 30-50 which you will be asked to pay to pay to the accounts outside Iran or pay in cash in Iran.
After being stamped in your passport, this visa is valid for 3 months to enter Iran. The exit may happen after this period. You can collect your visa in any of the Iranian embassies all over the world which should be specified while sending your request.
