I’m travelling to Iran in July, to spend two-three weeks in the country. My plan is to enter from Turkmenistan, take a bus to Mashad, fly from there to Shiraz/Persepolis, take a bus to Yasd and then travel by train to Isfahan, Kashan, Qom and Teheran. The difficulty is finding information about trains, timetables etc. Can anyone help me? Are the trains booked in advance, can I jump on/of freely? I am leaving through Turkey, do I need to buy tickets long time in advance. What about guesthouses/hotels?

It is recommended to book your tickets before traveling to Iran in order not to face the problem of closed departures. Although this case is mostly the matter of high seasons not all year round, it is wiser to reserve the tickets beforehand.

The case is similar with the hotels; in the high seasons, you will have more opportunities to choose better and cheaper hotels if reserve those before traveling to Iran.

Although you can find rooms in hotels while you are in Iran but in the high season it is better not to take the risk.
