Iran Travel Q&A

Are there buses that connect Tehran International Airport with Qom.

Question:

Are there buses that connect Tehran International Airport with Qom. or is it easier to take a taxi from the airport to Qom? How much would that be approximately?

Answer:

Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) is located about 30 kilometers southwest of Tehran, Iran near Robat-Karim and Eslamshahr.
There are no buses between IKA and Qom, but you can take a taxi which costs about $40-50 for 1 hour drive or you would have to go to the South Bus Station in Tehran which is the closest bus station to the airport, and take a bus from there to Qom for about $2.
Imam Khomeini Airport is accessible from Tehran by automobile, taxi and bus via the Tehran-Qom Freeway. An airport access road connects the freeway to the airport terminal, continuing to serve Robat-Karim via an interchange with Saidi Highway.
Tehran Metro plans to have Line 3 reach its southern terminus at IKA in the distant future
Airport tax is collected from Iranian citizens for the amount of 250,000 IRR upon each departure. However, in August 2008, the law on the airport tax was changed for Iranian expatriates, whose passport does not indicate Iran as the domicile and also students studying abroad, to be exempt from paying airport tax.
