Iran Travel Q&A

Me and my friend are planning to visit Iran the 17th of April and stay for a week.

Question:

I and my friend are planning to visit Iran the 17th of April and stay for a week. The plan is to stay in Tehran the whole week and perhaps do shorter day trips around the area (would be nice to visit Qom). Reading the travel recommendations from the Swedish embassy (yes we are Swedish) they doesn't say that it's a bad idea to visit Tehran but I feel that I must check. So how is the mood in Tehran now? Is it dangerous in some way to visit the city? Any more advices for us except avoiding any protest marches?

Answer:

Iran is quite safe and Tehran has not experienced any unrest and is not a dangerous place to visit as some people may believe. If you stick to the general travel guidelines, you will be OK.

People are very welcoming and curious, especially the young people, who are very likely to approach you to ask questions.

Visiting Iran is strongly recommended; it is not only a beautiful country with a rich history and stunning architecture, it is definitely very different from what many of Westerners have in mind. It is guaranteed that you will go back home with a totally different image of the country and its people.
