I understand that an Iranian visa is only valid for three months after it is first issued (during which time we'll be in Lebanon). Is it possible to use www.uppersia.com or apply at the Iranian Embassy/Consulate in Beirut. How long might this take? Does the three months after issue relate to entry and exit of Iran, or just entry? I.e. could I enter Iran 28 days after the visa was issued, and then leave two weeks' later?

Refering to the Iranian embassy usually takes longer time about 30 days so it is not suggested. By the way, some of the embassies ask for an invitation letter, in this case you have to use the first option. So it is better to fill in the visa form on Iran vis application , it takes about 3-7 working days to get your reference number and two working days to collect your visa at the embassy by direct referral or one working week by posting the docs to the embassy. You can pay the visa fee in cash in Iran.
This visa is valid during 3 months after being stamped in the passport to enter Iran. The exit may happen after this period.
